Which network does the Malaysia eSIM use?
Maxis. It is one of Malaysia's main mobile networks, so coverage matches what local subscribers get rather than a thin roaming-only footprint.
Will I get 5G in Malaysia?
Yes, where Maxis has deployed it and your phone supports it. Outside those areas the eSIM falls back to 4G/LTE automatically — you won't need to change any setting.
How much data do I actually need for Malaysia?
As a rough guide: navigation and messaging burn around 100–200 MB a day, social media roughly 500 MB an hour, and video calls about 1 GB an hour. A short trip fits inside the 3 GB plan ($11); a fortnight of heavier use is closer to 10 GB ($25.50).
When does my Malaysia plan start counting down?
When the eSIM first connects to a network in Malaysia, not when you buy it. Install it at home a day or two before you fly — the 1 GB plan then gives you 7 days from arrival and the larger plans 30 days.
Can I use my Malaysia eSIM as a hotspot?

Can I keep my own phone number while I'm in Malaysia?

Do I need to register or show a passport to use a Malaysia eSIM?
