Install your eSIM

About two minutes on iPhone or Android. Do it at home on Wi-Fi a day or two before you fly — the plan does not start counting down until the eSIM first connects at your destination.

  • Instant delivery QR code by email, seconds after payment
  • Check your device Works on eSIM-ready iPhone & Android
  • Secure payment Encrypted checkout, no account needed

Before you start

  • An eSIM-capable, unlocked phone

Dial *#06#. An EID number means the hardware is there. A carrier-locked phone will download the profile and then refuse to activate it.

  • Your order email

It carries the QR code, the SM-DP+ address, the activation code and the APN. Keep it — you need it again if you ever reinstall.

  • A stable Wi-Fi connection

Home or hotel Wi-Fi. Not aeroplane or ship satellite, and not open airport or café networks — captive portals break the profile download.

On iPhone (iOS 16 and later)

  1. Open Settings, then Mobile Service

On some versions it is called Mobile Data or Cellular. Tap Add eSIM, then Use QR Code.

  2. Point the camera at the QR code in your order email

Easiest from a second screen — a laptop or tablet. If you only have the one phone, screenshot the code and tap Open Photos on the scanning screen instead.

  3. Wait for the profile to download, then label the line

Call it "Travel" or the country name. The label is what you will be tapping for the rest of the trip, so make it obvious.

  4. Choose which line does what

iOS asks three questions in a row. Keep your home number as the Default Line for calls and texts; set Mobile Data to the travel line; leave "Allow Mobile Data Switching" OFF, or your home SIM will quietly pick up the slack and roam at full price.

  5. Turn Data Roaming on for the travel line only

Settings, Mobile Service, tap the travel line, Data Roaming on. This is not optional — a travel eSIM is technically roaming, and it will not carry a byte without it.

  6. Set the APN if your order email lists one

Settings, Mobile Service, travel line, Mobile Data Network. Put the APN in the Mobile Data field only, and leave username and password blank.

On Android

Menu names differ between Samsung, Pixel, Xiaomi and the rest. The sequence does not.

  1. Open Settings, then Network & internet

Then SIMs (Samsung: Connections, then SIM manager). Tap Add eSIM, Download a SIM instead, or the + next to SIMs — the wording varies by manufacturer.

  2. Scan the QR code from your order email

If the camera cannot see it, choose "Enter code manually" and use the activation code from the email.

  3. Confirm the download and name the line

The profile takes a few seconds. Give it a name you will recognise in a hurry.

  4. Point mobile data at the travel eSIM

In SIMs, set Mobile data to the travel line. Leave calls and SMS on your home SIM so your number keeps working.

  5. Turn Roaming on for the travel line

Tap the travel eSIM, then Roaming. Same rule as iPhone — without it, nothing connects.

  6. Check the APN if one is listed in your order email

SIMs, travel line, Access Point Names. Add the APN exactly as written; no username, no password.

No camera? Install it manually

Every order email carries the same profile in text form. Manual entry installs exactly what the QR code would have.

  • Choose "Enter details manually" instead of scanning.
  • SM-DP+ Address: copy it from your order email exactly, with no trailing space.
  • Activation Code: also in the order email. Some phones call it the confirmation code.
  • Leave any "Confirmation code" field blank unless the email gives you one.

If something goes wrong

The QR code will not scan

Almost always the network rather than the code. Switch Wi-Fi, or use your home mobile data, and try again. Failing that, install manually with the SM-DP+ address and activation code — it produces exactly the same profile.

"Unable to Add eSIM" or "Cannot complete activation"

Two usual causes: the phone is carrier-locked, or the profile has already been installed once. An eSIM profile can normally only be downloaded a single time, so if you deleted it from the phone, contact support@travelnet.world for a reissue rather than rescanning.

Installed, landed, and there is no signal

Work down the list: data roaming on for the travel line, mobile data pointed at the travel line, flight mode on and off, then a full restart. A restart forces a fresh network scan and resolves most cases. If the phone still shows no service after ten minutes, select the network manually in settings.

Connected, but nothing loads

That signature — bars but no data — is almost always the APN. Re-enter it exactly as printed in your order email, into the Mobile Data field only, with username and password empty, then restart.

The hotspot will not share the connection

Turn Wi-Fi off, restart the phone, confirm the eSIM data itself works in a browser, then switch the hotspot on. If it still fails, check that the hotspot section has the same APN as the mobile data section — on some Android builds it is a separate field.

I need to remove the eSIM

Settings, Mobile Service or SIMs, tap the travel line, then Remove or Delete eSIM. Do this only when the trip is over: deleting a profile normally cannot be undone without a reissue.
