Which network does the Chile eSIM use?
Entel. It is one of Chile's main mobile networks, so coverage matches what local subscribers get rather than a thin roaming-only footprint.
Will I get 5G in Chile?
Yes, where Entel has deployed it and your phone supports it. Outside those areas the eSIM falls back to 4G/LTE automatically — you won't need to change any setting.
How much data do I actually need for Chile?
Most travellers over-buy. Maps and messaging for a week is under 2 GB; streaming and video calls are what move the number. Start at 3 GB ($17) and top up if you run short — the 10 GB plan ($39) is for remote work and heavy streaming.
When does my Chile plan start counting down?
When the eSIM first connects to a network in Chile, not when you buy it. Install it at home a day or two before you fly — the 1 GB plan then gives you 7 days from arrival and the larger plans 30 days.
Can I use my Chile eSIM as a hotspot?
Yes. Tethering is enabled on every Chile plan, so you can share the connection with a laptop, a tablet or someone travelling with you. Hotspot data comes out of the same allowance.
Can I keep my own phone number while I'm in Chile?
Yes. Nothing is removed from your phone. The Chile profile is added as a second line and set as the one used for data, while your usual number keeps receiving calls, texts and bank verification codes. Switch data roaming off on the home line before you fly.
Do I need to register or show a passport to use a Chile eSIM?

What happens if I run out of data in Chile?
